What has drinking meant to you lately?

Soooo #summerinatl is in full swing, it’s officially Q3, & we’ve got 6 more months until the end of the year… Idk about ya’ll, but 2025 is really feeling like a fever dream! 😅 

In case you may (or may not know) I’ve been taking a break from posting on Instagram because in all honesty…

I haven’t been resonating with my content.

Mainly because I feel like my content hasn’t been truly reflective of what my IRL drinking habits currently are.

I want my content to come from an authentic place & if content creation has taught me anything in these last ~4 years (2 of those 4 taking it serious) - it’s to not force it if I don’t FEEL it.

So I’ve been more intentional with paying attention to what’s actually true for me — especially when it comes to drinking.

So, here’s what my drinking has actually looked like for me:

  • More experimentation with alcohol free concoctions

  • Slowly turning into a matcha girlie

  • Faithfully drinking water (about 60oz a day to guestimate)

  • One off social drink moments when out & about with the friends

Honestly, 21 year old Angela would be kinda gagged at this. But [now] 27 year old Angela? She calls that ✨intentional balance ✨ 

So the point is..

I haven’t been ready to tell this to my IG fam, but for my newsletter peeps - you just got the tea!

But in all seriousness, I needed to have a place like this to just write out my thoughts and really unpack in a small but significant way what I’m feeling. And this space I’m creating, I know will be the space to do just that.

I want to get vulnerable, transparent, and reflective in an impactful way so much so that it starts to create conversations and a community that can be built of folks who just get it. A safe space 💝 plus I get to work out my writing muscles that I haven’t exercised in how long 🤣 

Who knows though - some of this content may find its way into my socials, but TBD.

Now let’s get into this sip check..

Now, I want to know from you.

Like I said - we’re in the thick of summertime fine. Outside has a whole anthem. Beyonce is on tour. Of course, the energy to imbibe in some good sips is in the air.

But when was the last time you did a “sip check”?

Aka intentionally checking in on when you drink, how often, what you’re drinking, and maybe even the settings you’re drinking in.

Are you drinking because you want to — or just because it’s expected? What drinks have been making you feel good lately?

Let me be clear — this is not a question to make you self-critical or shameful. We don’t encourage that kind of energy here. 👎️ 

It’s more to start making you an intentional drinker - however or whatever that looks to you.

So feel free to reply with what your vibe has been lately! I’ll be aiming to do more check-ins like these in future newsletters along with my takes on drinking culture, NA recs, and anything else you’d like to see more of.
